Scholarship Description
The Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (UCSC) in Italy, as part of its mission to foster relationships with developing countries, developed a special program – the Africa Scholars Program – for students from the African continent.

The Università Cattolica Africa Scholarships program will enable students to study selected masters degree programs taught in English at UCSC’s Milan, Piacenza and Cremona Campuses. Cattolica offers scholarship opportunities for 1-year English-taught Specializing Masters as well.
UCSC Italy is pleased to offer partial African scholarships in the fields of study listed below for the 2016/2017 academic year for eligible students from Africa.

Eligibility

Students, either citizens or residents, of all African countries may apply for these scholarships that are applicable only for the degree programs taught in English as listed below (see ‘Fields of study’).
PROGRAM INFORMATION & ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Admission requirements for all Masters Degree programs include:

• Completion of at least a Bachelor Degree from a recognized university (2nd class upper division / 2.1 degree or higher) and
• English Language Test score: IELTS 6.0 (Academic) or TOEFL IBT 80 if English is not your first language; OR successful completion of a degree program taught in the English language.

For the MBA at least three years of work experience and GMAT/GRE are required (students can apply without a GMAT/GRE score; however this test has to be taken before program commencement). For the Master of International Business no work experience is required.

Fields of Study
The Cattolica Africa Scholarship consists of 2 programs:

1. Università Cattolica Africa Scholarships Program 
This program consists of five MSc programs (Laurea Magistrale), all taught in English, which take 2 years to complete. These programs are preparing for an academic and/or professional career. Graduates of these MSc programs are also eligible to enter PhD programs at Italian universities.

• MSc in Banking and Finance (Milan Campus) – Commencement in September 2016
• MSc in Economics (Milan Campus) – Commencement in September 2016
• MSc in Management (Milan Campus) – Commencement in September 2016
• MSc in International Management, Legislation and Society (Piacenza Campus) – Commencement in September 2016
• MSc in Agriculture and Food Economics (Cremona Campus) – Commencement in September 2016

2. Cattolica Africa Leadership Program [NOT currently offered for 2016/2017 session] This program consist of five specialized Master programs (Master Universitario), taught in English, which all take 1 year to complete. These programs consist of one semester of coursework and one semester of internship and/or project activities. These programs are designed for students who seek to enhance their professional career through a specialized area of study, taught by top-academics and professional experts in the field.

• International MBA in Global Business and Sustainability (Milan Campus) – Commencement in September 2013
• Master of International Business (Milan Campus) – Commencement in September 2013
• Master of Corporate Communication (Milan Campus) – Commencement in November 2013
• Master of International Relations (Milan Campus) – Commencement in January 14
• Master of International Cooperation and Development (Milan Campus) – Commencement in January 14

Number of Awards
Up to 47 scholarships are being offered for the 2016/2017 academic session. (In the past, however, 52 scholarships – 12 full tuition and 39 partial tuition – have been awarded)

Sponsorship Duration
The Cattolica Africa Scholars Program will be offered for 2 years. It covers the 2-year MSc programs (Laurea Magistrale) taught in English.

Scholarship Benefits
Through the Cattolica Africa Program all accepted applicants will be offered tuition fee reductions. However, students will still be responsible for their own living expenses, hence the Cattolica Africa Program is NOT a program through which full scholarships can be obtained.
Living costs in Piacenza and Cremona are approximately €200 per month lower than in Milan. (P.S: See official website for complete breakdown of scholarship values.)

Method of Application

4 steps are involved:

1. Select the degree program of your choice.
2. Download the handbook of the online application and read it carefully.
3. Log in the online application and fill it in.
   Remember to select “degree-seeking” when asked for your “program type”. Upload the following documents:
   
   1. Copy of bio-data page of your passport or ID (in Latin alphabet);
   2. If you are a Non-EU citizen already living in Italy: copy of your “permesso di soggiorno” ;
   3. Transcript of academic records, including grading and credit system explanation;
   4. Bachelor-level Diploma, if you already graduated from university;
   5. Secondary School Diploma;
   6. English Language Certificate
   7. GMAT or GRE score (optional)
   NOTE: Candidates have to upload the originals of the transcript of academic records, bachelor-level Diploma (if available), and Secondary School Diploma, plus their official translation into Italian or English. If the documents are issued in English, French or Spanish, the translation is not required.
4. Submit your application.

PLEASE NOTE:

Due to the restrictive and lengthy nature of the student pre-registration process required by the Italian Consulates and Embassies in various countries, Università Cattolica Africa Scholarships strongly advise non-EU students residing abroad to apply by April 15.
