Italian Government scholarship for Foreign Students
Italian Government Scholarship Board is offering scholarship opportunities for foreign citizens as well as Italians living abroad.
The scholarships are meant for those students undertaking academic courses i.e. Undergraduate Degrees (only for renewals), Postgraduate Degrees, Master’s Degrees (Level I or II), PhD Courses and Specialization School courses including: Research, education in Art, Music and Dance, Italian language (advanced), and culture for Italian teachers as a secondary language.

Acceptable Institutions:
The scholarship is only for those students who undertake study or research courses as offered by the universities in the public education system of Italy.
Acceptable Disciplines:
Any acceptable study field offered by various universities in Italy are supported.

Scholarship terms:
This Italian Government scholarship is offered for a duration of either three months six months or nine months to qualified applicants. For the Italian language course, the scholarship is offered for one month.
In a normal circumstances, the student’s tuition fees are waived for the course duration, though it is not the case with all universities, since some do charge a portion of the tuition fee or tax whereof. It is an appropriate step for qualified students to contact their universities of choice to get proper arrangements regarding the same and prepare accordingly to avoid any mishaps.
The Italian Government scholarship also covers any medical or accident insurance policy for the holders while the scholarship is still valid. Chilean citizens are also supported on air/travel tickets.
Qualification for the scholarship:
Any applicant, before submitting his or her application showing interest in this program, must ensure he or she has met all the requirements set therein.
Admission qualification:

Italian language knowledge: All students are required to possess a minimum of an intermediate level certificate in Italian language (i.e. CELI 3, CILS B2, etc.) or an equivalent linguistic proficiency.
For advanced courses in Italian language, candidates are expected to be holders of an A2 proficiency in Italian or higher.
NB:There is an exception of requirement of Italian language if the desired course is entirely held in English.
– Age of Applicants: By the deadline date of submission, all candidates are expected to be 18 years and above and not older than 35 years.
For those enrolling as Italian language teachers as a secondary language are eligible to the age limit of 45 years.– Exception: This programme excludes those enrolling in a year advancing the legal course duration study.
Application Procedure:
All applications for this scholarship by the Government of Italy is done online and must be submitted before the deadline that is dated on the Friday, 15th April 2016 – at 0000hrs Italian time.

Again, as a reminder, all applicants are required to get in touch with the universities in Italy whence they would like to take their desired courses and do thorough clarification before sending their applications. Other information is restricted as country-specific and therefore applicants are required to obtain a copy of the same information for his or her country from the Italian Cultural Institute of their home country.
