Applying to universities in Norway is pretty easy and not complicated. To get an acceptance to study any degree program, you must have gotten a general university admissions certificate (generell studiekompetanse), these could simply be achieved by completing upper secondary school education. For all International students, you would have to find out if your foreign certificates are recognized in Norway using the country-specific GSU-list.

Applying to Universities in Norway can also be through the law of 23/5 – you must be above 23 years of age and also have 5 years of combined schooling and work experience, and must have passed exams in several key subjects (namely Norwegian, mathematics, natural sciences, English and social studies). Some other degrees may also require for extra qualifications in specific subjects depending on the degree program you are applying for (e.g mathematics and physics would be required for engineering course). Also note that each course and university will have its own laid down admissions requirements.

When you are applying for courses taught in English, you will have to apply directly and individually to each university you are interested in. You’ll always need to fill in an application form, which is readily available on the university’s website or by request. Undergraduate degree courses taught in Norwegian can be applied to by going through the Norwegian Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (NUCAS).
